This list is subject to change, and is by no means exhaustive. If you have an idea for a topic that isn’t listed, feel free to send it in for consideration.

Core Principles: Since every topic we undertake has the potential to strike a sensitive nerve, we want to make sure we our publications take a thoughtful and well-balanced approached. It is not important, nor is it a priority to present something that is agreeable to everyone. It is, however, our utmost concern to make difficult conversations as easy as possible to have.

Therefore, these principles will be taken into consideration when reviewing your submission:

  • Inflammatory Speech: Outside the use of contextual quotes, inflammatory speech will not be accepted. This includes profanity, slurs, ad hominem attacks, hate-speech, unfounded accusations, threats and anything that be construed as solicitation of violence.
  • Respectful Debate: Since the sole purpose of the Dantian Project is to build bridges between people with a variety of different backgrounds, it is crucial that the overall tone of writing conveys thoughtfulness and sensitivity for those who might disagree with your specific point of view.
  • Fact-Based: Baseless claims, ‘mis’ and ‘dis’ information, as well as divisive propaganda will not be accepted. Therefore, if your submission includes references to statistical data, or any other information that can be verified via an outside source, you must include a link to that source, or cite it using APA format, as outlined here.
  • Authenticity: Your article should reflect your own independent point(s) of view regarding your chosen topic. In other words, be original. Readers are not looking for a replica of what they can find via other media outlets. They want to read something unique.
  • Advertising: Unless it is needed to provide context, credibility or support to the overall point of your article, advertising is not allowed.

Format: For the sake of consistency and ease, please submit your article as follows:

  • Email your submission to thedantianproject (insert @ symbol) gmail.com
  • Word count: 500-2,000 words max.
  • Attach as a Word document
  • Single-spaced, no indents before the paragraph, one extra space between paragraphs
  • Include an author bio up to 100 words. We allow up to two links in your bio for websites, social media profiles, or links to recent publications or upcoming events.
  • Include a vertically-oriented author headshot in jpg format

AI Generated Content: Any use of artificial intelligence to generate written content is strictly prohibited unless it is specifically needed to provide contextual understanding within an author-generated work, i.e. addressing the challenges of moderating ai in high school classes, or the implications of ai in the credibility of social media posts. In such instances, the ai-generated content will only be admissible if the author is transparent about using it in the first place. Additionally, if we discover that any work (whether already published or simply accepted) features ai-generated content, we will not only reject or remove the article from our website, but also prohibit the author from future publications.
